P.R.No:120- MANJAPPAI AWARD 2025

To take forward the “Meendum Manjappai” campaign, the Hon’ble Minister for Environment and Climate Change announced on the floor of the Legislative Assembly for the financial year 2022-23, among other things, the Manjappai Awards. It will be given to the best 3 schools, 3 colleges and 3 commercial Establishments which effectively implement the ban on SUPs and make their campus free of plastic and encourage the use of alternatives to single-use plastic (SUP) carry bags and other banned SUPs and to revive the use of traditional eco-friendly alternatives, such as the Manjappai (yellow cloth bag) and make their campus plastic free. The first prize will carry a sum of Rs. 10 lakhs, the second prize will be Rs. 5 lakhs, and Rs. 3 lakhs will be issued as the third prize. (PDF 18KB)
