District Collector Mrs. Lakshmi Bhavya Tanneeru, IAS, inaugurated a community *Valaikappu* (baby shower) event for expectant mothers today (24.09.2026) at the Janaki Ammal Wedding Hall in Gudalur, Nilgiris District. Organized by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) scheme, the event saw the distribution of meals and nine types of ceremonial gifts—including garlands, fruits, betel leaves and nuts, turmeric cords, *kumkum*, sandalwood paste, bangles, sarees, and sweets—to 100 expectant mothers.
