RAC Science Day on 28 February 2026 (Saturday) at the Radio Astronomy Centre, NCRA-TIFR, Ooty

The National Science Day is celebrated every year on 28 February all over the country to honour the discovery of the Raman Effect by Sir C.V. Raman, for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize. The preparations for this year’s National Science Day are going with full swing at the Radio Astronomy Centre (RAC), which is part of the National Centre for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), at its campus located near the Muthorai village. It is to be noted that the RAC operates one of the biggest radio telescopes in the world, the “Ooty Radio Telescope”, which is being used for several important astronomy and astrophysics studies. The major aim of the National Science Day function organized by the RAC is to bring encouragement and motivation on scientific studies among the young students and to enhance scientific awareness among the public.(PDF 50KB)
